Australia’s insatiable appetite for Salsa’s Fresh Mex continues
Salsa’s Fresh Mex Grill has enjoyed a year of exceptional growth, opening a new store every six weeks throughout 2012, bringing its total number of stores to 37.
With average sales turnover per store of $1 million per annum (based on reported partner sales figures for the 12 months to 30 September 2012), Salsa’s is Australia’s largest and fastest growing Mexican brand and is supported by the powerful back end resources of parent company, Retail Zoo.
As Australia’s appetite for great Mexican food grows, Salsa’s reported total network sales for the period January to December 2012 as an impressive $34 million. The Salsa’s network has achieved growth year-on-year of at least 7% growth in sales in all financial years since 2009.
Salsa’s Fresh Mex Grill general manager Brett Carman commented that the business clearly shows steady growth in a tough retail environment and competitive sector.
“Salsa’s partners have performed well in the last 12 months, in part, due to our proven business platform led by an experienced executive team focused on maximising growth,” Mr Carman said.
“We will open at least ten Salsa’s stores in Australia in 2013, and given consumers have plenty of choice, we’re constantly challenging ourselves to find better ways to attract and retain customers. Marketing campaigns such as our first pop-up store at the Australian Open performed 30% above sales forecasts, and next month we launch an awesome range of street tacos made with fresh, healthy ingredients,” he said.
Salsa’s menu is styled on cuisine found in Baja California, the northwest peninsula of Mexico that stretches from Tijuana to Cabo San Lucas. The style of food is known as ‘fresh mex’. Our Australian interpretation combines the best of Mexican food (tacos, burritos, quesadillas, nachos) with simple, fresh, healthy ingredients like salad, vegetables and grilled meats.
